At Marchbrae we are proud to present some of the finest country and heritage brands around. Perhaps none are better known than British staple Barbour. This season we have a selection of their various collections including the Winter Tartan and Spirit of Adventure ranges. From expertly crafted wax cotton jackets to soft and luxurious knitwear, Barbour's Autumn/Winter '16 season is packed with quality choices. To help you navigate the new collection, we have done our best to whittle them down and pick some of our absolute must haves.

Convoy Wax Jacket (Olive) - Part of the Spirit of Adventure collection, the Convoy is a robust and stylish jacket that borrows features from Barbour's classic Ursula style jacket. With quilt lining and a detachable fleece-lined hood, keeping warm is no problem. We love the soft matte finish to this jacket and the little details such as the throat strap. It is highly functional but also comes complete with an internal drawcord meaning you can define the shape of this jacket at the waist. The Convoy is finished with Barbour's stitched logo on one of the large hand warmer pockets and brass stud fastenings. A truly impressive piece that incredibly stylish and functional at the same time.

Nebit Cape (Light Grey Marl) - Featuring Barbour's signature tartan, the Nebit cape is a winter warmer that we just couldn't leave out. With a blend of alpaca and merino this super soft cape is the ideal piece to keep you cosy and comfortable. The wide roll collar keeps in the heat whilst the taselled hem adds a little bit of flair. We love a lot of things about this choice, but if we were pushed to pick one thing it would be the neutral colour scheme that is easy to create an outfit around.

Faray Roll Neck Sweater (Sand) - Let's face it, the key to keeping warm and stylish is a clever use of layering and Barbour has a quite few items that lend themselves really well to just that. We chose this Faray Roll Neck Sweater as it's both soft and lightweight. There are a couple of nice little details on this one including the winter tartan elbow patches and the subtle branding towards the hem. We would layer this up with one of Barbour's wax or quilted jackets and style with either jeans or trousers. Of course our favourite feature here is the roll neck to keep the heat in when the temperature drops.

Welwick Tailored Jacket (Clergy)Every man needs a blazer they can turn to when they want to smarten up a little. We think this offering from Barbour is a great option and we really like the colour. With a pure wool outer, elbow patches and undercollar detailing, the Welwick isn't short of features. Inspired by heritage tailoring, the presence of the handkerchief pocket means you can add a dash of tartan to your outift with this selection of pocket squares. Worn just as easily with smart trousers as it is with chinos or dark denim, the Welwick is versatile with a nicely cut tailored fit.

John Tailored Shirt (Modern Tartan) - Barbour have a great selection of shirts this season that we recommend checking out here, but we chose this John shirt because we are a fan of this modern tartan. With a tailored fit and subtle Barbour detailing, this shirt won't look out of place on a night out or at work. The curved hem lends itself well to being layered up with some knitwear on top but would look equally as good with a blazer over it.

Readhead Boots (Tan) - Hardwearing and superbly versatile, the Readhead is Barbour's take on the classic chukka boot. Available in this rustic tan colourway, these boots can complete a variety of looks. Best paired with jeans, they can be part of a smart/casual outfit worn with darker denim and a shirt or can be part of a more casual look with lighter denim and a plain t-shirt. With a leather upper and Barbour's signature waxed cotton to the counter, you know these boots will be around for the long haul. Complete with traditional dark green leather lining and comfortable padding on the base, the Readhead is rugged on the outside and extremely easy to wear. The thick and durable rubber soles sport an antiquated Barbour badge that pays homage to the brand's heritage.

Gifts and Accessories

Barbour Tartan Washbag (Classic Tartan) - Finding the ideal gift can be a long and arduous task, thankfully Barbour have a selection of superb items that are suited to being great presents, this is one of them. Whether being bought for the jet setter or the Monday to Friday road warrior this washbag will always be appreciated. Inspired by Barbour's Scottish heritage, the classic tartan washbag is crafted from a brushed wool outer and features real leather trims and embossed Barbour badge. The waterproof lining and robust zip mean that none of the functionality is sacrificed for the sake of looks making this bag useful and stylish.

Shadow Tartan Explorer Bag (Navy/Merlot) - Another travel inspired gift comes by way of this Explorer Bag. A distinctive navy and merlot tartan woolen outer is combined with brown leather handles, trims and detachable strap to create this excellent holdall. A good gift option for someone close to you or even an early Christmas present for yourself, the Explorer is for the discerning traveller. Ideal for everyday use or as carry-on luggage, this bag is spacious, hardwearing and looks great.

Hip Flask & Cups Gift Box (Classic Tartan) - A great little set that was made for gifting. For anyone who enjoys a tipple on the go this stainless steel hip flask and cups are sure to be a favourite. Complete with leather carry case for the cups, this gift box is presented so well and we love it. The flask features Barbour's iconic Classic Tartan all over and has a screw-down cap on top. Not only does it look the part, it is crafted for quality.
