With a rich heritage and ties to the British countryside, Barbour has become synonymous with high quality, durable clothing. This week we put a spotlight on the new gents spring/summer range from Barbour that is now available at Marchbrae, both in store and online. With a selection of rugged wax jackets, warm knitted mid layers, tailored shirts as well as a range of footwear and accessories, there is something for all occassions and conditions.
A twist on the classic bomber jacket style, the Moss features Barbour's signature diamond quilting to the outer and is available in either a classic Sage (pictured above) or Navy. A cord inner collar adds another distinctly Barbour feature while finishes such as a ribbed hem and cuffs are ones more typically seen on a bomber jacket. The shorter length lends itself well to layering up a sweatshirt or some knitwear underneath when the weather calls for it and the full zip and button closure to the front protects you from the elements.
Part of the Original North Sea Outfitters collection, the ONSO Crew Neck is a soft poly-cotton raglan sweatshirt designed for comfort. Inspired by Barbour's origins as a provider of garments to fishermen, sailors and dockers in the North Sea, this crew neck features a contrast applique design to the chest. The durability of this garment means it can be worn year-round and is versatile enough to pair with shorts in summer or with denim and a jacket on top in the winter.
A versatile summer t-shirt with a tailored fit, the Bank Tee works equally well with chinos as it does with shorts. Whether you are enjoying summer by the sea or looking for some casual wear for the city, this t-shirt is a great choice. Crafted from 100% cotton the Bank Tee is soft, durable and features an enlarged tartan sett print from the shoulder.
Another classic style with an update courtesy of Barbour, the Readhead is based on the chukka boot and features a suede upper that can be worn either with a suit or casually with jeans. The durable upper is complemented by a rubber sole and subtle Barbour branding. For a boot that looks rugged yet smart, the Readhead is an excellent choice.
For the travelling gentleman, the Explorer bag is tough to top. Ideal for weekend getaways, there is plenty of room for essentials. The leather bag is finished with striking aged metal fittings and lined with Barbour's classic tartan on the inside. A detachable shoulder strap can be used as opposed to the robust twin handles and there's also a zipped inner security pocket for any valuables. Aside from all of the features, the Explorer bag has a distinguished look and is perfect for country escapes and city breaks alike. Perhaps most conveniently, the bag is small enough to be classed as hand luggage when flying.
